Faye's Laparoscopic Gastric Band Story

6 months before op
“My partner proposes to me, and it’s one of the happiest days of my life, all I can think about is my dress I’ll wear and what I’ll look like. I saw the perfect one in a bridal shop - size 14! I just had to have THAT dress. I looked into alternative weight loss options which would help me get into that dress on my wedding day - that was when I contacted The Hospital Group.
The day of surgery
“I feel very anxious. I park up at the hospital and then turn around to go home! After circling the roundabout twice, I finally realise that I have to do this as nothing else is working for me. Once I’m in the hospital I feel fine, everyone is understanding and kind and it’s not long before I’m ready to go for the op. I wake up feeling sleepy, but with no pain at all.”
The day after gastric band surgery
“I drink a low calorie milkshake for breakfast and get ready to go home. I feel sore underneath my bust and I also feel angry at myself that I did not have the self-control over my food and had to resort to this.”
1 month post op
“I have lost about 10lbs! I’m so glad I’m on soft foods now.”
3 months post op
“I’ve had my first fill and notice a good restriction, but not as much as I had hoped for. I have lost 1 and a half stones and feel much better in myself.”
5 months post op
I’ve had my second fill and notice a massive difference. I can only eat very small amounts of food and the weight is dropping off.
7 months post op
“I have finally ’stopped fighting the band’. I now let it control my food intake and I’ve lost 2 and a half stones! I’ve never lost this much weight in my life. I can’t believe I waited so long to have the op. My life is changing, the food does not consume my every thought now.”
9 months post op
“Size 14 - now I can get into my wedding dress I bought before I had my band - I was determined to wear this dress on my wedding day and my dream came true!”

“I’ve lost 3 and a half stones in total. I just can’t believe how easy it is. I eat whatever I want, just small portions.”

“My weight loss is starting to stabilise at 4 and a half stones and I have gone from a size 20 to 12/14, I’m so thrilled, and I just can’t believe this happening to me.”

“I go on my first beach holiday in years where I know no-one is looking at me and thinking ‘fat cow’. My confidence is soaring, but my weight loss has slowed and I now need another fill if I want to loose more weight.”

“I have lost 5 stones, I am amazed. I feel great, I look better than I have ever looked in my life and I’m now starting to exercise for the first time in 3 and a half years, I really want to tone and sculpt my body.”
16 months post op
“Having lost a staggering 6 stone in weight loss, my bust has gone from an E cup to a C, so I’ve decided to have a breast enlargement which will take me to a pert D/DD cup. I’ve gone from a size 22 to 8/10. This procedure has changed my life, I go out all the time, I feel normal, I go to the gym, I go swimming, dancing and for the first time in years I have a genuine smile on my face, instead of the fake one.”
