Our weight management clinics start with thorough patient assessment which includes medical issues and conditions. Our team of friendly staff will then aim to help patients reduce weight through a combination of nutritional counselling with a Dietitian, prescription therapy, behaviour modification and education with a Doctor and Nurse.You must have an initial consultation with our nurse to discuss your previous medical history before you can deemed suitable for this programme.
The medical team at The Hospital Group will assess the needs of the patient on an individual case-by-case and work with you get the most out of your weight loss plan.
Who Do Weight Management Clinics Suit?
» Our Weight Loss Clinic suits anyone with a BMI between 25 and 30 (e.g. a person of 5′7″ who weighs over 11 stones 6 pounds)
» People with a BMI greater than 27 (e.g. a person of 5′7″ who weighs over 13 stones 10 pounds) may need to be offered additional treatment such as anti obesity drugs to reduce their weight
» People who have a weight related risk factors such as heart disease, diabetes, stomach acid reflex, knee osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, centralisation of body fat

Week 1: Medical Assessment & Dietitian Appointment
To include reviews as follows:

Week 2: General Practitioner Appointment
To include:
» Initial appointment with GP to discuss medical history and dietitian appointment
» GP and client discuss a weight management plan
» Patient & GP set out an agreed realistic target for weight reduction
» Prescription provided and medication discussed
Week 3: Review with Nurse
» Weight recorded and measurements taken
» Blood Pressure recorded
» Discuss food and activity diary
» General support and advice offer
Week 6: Review with General Practitioner
» GP will assess weight loss in the previous four weeks
» Further dietitian appointment arranged (if necessary)
» Review medication
Week 8: Reviewed by Nurse
» Weight recorded and measurements taken
» Blood Pressure recorded
» Discuss food and activity diary
» General support and advice offered
Week 12: Review with General Practitioner
» GP will assess weight loss in the previous six weeks
» Programme Reviewed
» Begin another course of treatment or discharge
